Bowling at Haslam Park
Haslam Park
and White Bank School were once part of White Bank Estate which was simply a
farm. The house came into the possession of the Haslam family in
1871 when bought by William Haslam. The
house and grounds remained in the possession of this family until 1922 when the
estate was presented to the town as a school and park by Mr. Lewis Haslam M.P.
and the school was opened shortly after.
Haslam Park
quickly became very popular and remains so today with its excellent tennis
courts and bowling greens. There is also a magnificent view of the surrounding
district and the moors beyond. Standing
out is the fine sandstone building which is Bolton School.
