1703

Dissenters Chapel of Rivington opened.  This in the Unitarian Chapel at the side of the green.

1714

Rivington Grammar School rebuilt.

 
1715

Rev. John Walker ejected from Horwich Old Chapel, later went to New Chapel.

 1722

The present Manor House built on the site of a previous farm.


1733

Present Tower built on top of Rivington Pike to replace the Armada signalling tower.

 1736

The boundaries between Horwich and Rivington Moors agreed.


1754

Split in congregation at Rivington Unitarian Chapel.  A number left to found Lee Chapel at Horwich.

1763

Road through Horwich via Church Street – Lee Lane improved.

1774

Horwich Lee Chapel built.

 1774

The population of Horwich was 305.  Males 149, female 156.

 
1777

John & Thomas Ridgway – Bleachers obtained the lease of Wallsuches and Makinson Moor Estates.

1779

The old Horwich Chapel rebuilt.

The stage coach overturned below Horwich Moorgate.

 1798

New Blackrod Grammar School built.

War with France – Appeal for contributions in Horwich.  Old system of signalling revived and Pike Tower prepared.
